Know what you're buying

Why we sell bulk firewood by weight

Firewood can be difficult to compare by physical volume alone. Timber species, moisture, split size and the way pieces are stacked all affect how much space a load occupies.

That is why our bulk Red Gum, Blue Gum and mixed hardwood firewood is sold by weight. The quantity you order is based on weight rather than trying to estimate the amount from a loose pile of timber.

Bulk loads are sold by weight

A clear basis for the amount of firewood you are purchasing.

✓
No fixed tonne-to-volume claim

The physical volume of timber varies, so we do not promise that a tonne equals a particular cubic-metre amount.

Firewood questions

Frequently asked questions

Do you deliver firewood?

Yes. We deliver firewood using our own local fleet from Upper Beaconsfield to communities across the Dandenong Ranges, the Hills, the Casey foothills and nearby Cardinia areas. See the delivery-area section above or call us if you are unsure about your address.

Can I pick up firewood from the General Store?

Yes. Firewood pickup is available from our Upper Beaconsfield site at 39–47 Beaconsfield-Emerald Road, Upper Beaconsfield VIC 3808.

Is your bulk firewood sold by weight?

Yes. Our bulk Red Gum, Blue Gum and 50/50 mixed hardwood firewood is sold by weight. Available order sizes are shown on the relevant live product pages.

How many cubic metres is a tonne of firewood?

There is no fixed cubic-metre equivalent that applies to every tonne of firewood. Physical volume varies with timber species, moisture, log size, splitting and how the pieces are stacked. For that reason, we sell our bulk firewood by weight rather than promising a particular tonne-to-volume conversion.

What's the difference between Red Gum and Blue Gum?

Red Gum is a dense premium hardwood known for long burns and excellent coals. Blue Gum is also a quality hardwood with strong heat output and is generally the sharper-value option. Our 50/50 mix is available for customers wanting a combination of both.

Is the firewood dry and ready to burn?

We supply dry, ready-to-burn firewood. As with any firewood, keep your load stored somewhere dry and ventilated after delivery or pickup so it remains in good condition.

Do you sell kindling and firelighters as well?

Yes. We stock kiln-dried kindling plus firelighters and other fire-starting essentials, so you can organise the whole setup along with your main firewood order.

What if my property has difficult truck access?

If your driveway is steep, narrow, has low trees or restricted turning space, let us know when ordering. Our fleet includes different-sized vehicles and knowing about access beforehand helps our team plan the delivery.
