Refund policy

Upper Beaconsfield General Store is a registered business name held by The Trustee for River Beach Trust No 1 (ABN 81 886 527 218).

This policy applies to purchases made from our physical store and through genstore.com.au.

Your Australian Consumer Law rights
Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or modifies any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded, including your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Faulty, damaged, unsafe or incorrectly supplied products

If a product is faulty, damaged, unsafe, does not match its description or was supplied incorrectly, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.

We may ask you to provide:

  • proof of purchase, such as your receipt or order confirmation;
  • photographs of the product or damage; and
  • information that helps us assess the problem.

Where a product has a major failure, you may be entitled to choose a refund or replacement.

For a minor problem, we may first provide a repair or replacement within a reasonable time. If we cannot do so, you may be entitled to a refund or another remedy.

We will meet reasonable return, collection or transportation costs where required by the Australian Consumer Law.

Perishable food, prepared food and other short-life products are still covered by the Australian Consumer Law. Please contact us promptly so that we can properly investigate the issue.

Change of mind

We do not generally provide refunds or exchanges where you:

  • simply change your mind;
  • order the wrong product;
  • find the product cheaper elsewhere; or
  • decide that you no longer need the product.

This does not affect your rights where a product or service fails to meet a consumer guarantee.

Water-delivery cancellations and changes

Water deliveries are scheduled and allocated using our vehicles, drivers and available delivery capacity.

Customer-requested cancellations
If you book a water delivery and later decide to cancel or no longer require it, we do not generally provide a cash refund for the cancelled booking.

Instead, the amount paid will be:

  • retained as a customer credit for a future water delivery; or
  • applied to a rescheduled delivery date agreed with us.

The credit does not expire unless the law permits us to impose an expiry date and we clearly notify you of that date.

Please contact us as early as possible if you need to change your delivery date. Rescheduling remains subject to vehicle availability, delivery capacity, safe access and service-area requirements.

If we cancel a water delivery because we cannot provide the service and cannot arrange a suitable alternative, you may choose a refund of the amount paid or retain the amount as a credit.

Nothing in this section limits any remedy available where the service fails to meet a consumer guarantee under the Australian Consumer Law.

Other delivery cancellations and rescheduling

Please contact us immediately if you need to cancel or change a firewood, gas, garden-supplies or other delivery order.

If preparation, allocation, loading, dispatch or delivery has not begun, we will try to accommodate a change. Depending on the circumstances, we may offer a rescheduled delivery or store credit rather than a cash refund for a customer-requested cancellation or change of mind.

Made-to-order, specially sourced, personalised, prepared or perishable products may not be cancellable after preparation or work has begun, except where the Australian Consumer Law provides otherwise.
