From order to driveway

How a Red Gum firewood delivery works.

We have built the process around a simple idea: you should know what you are ordering, how it is measured and what we need to get it safely onto your property.

1

Choose your Red Gum

Order the current Red Gum options online, or contact the General Store if you want to talk through quantity, current timber condition or delivery access first.

2

Tell us about access

Steep, narrow or tricky driveway? Low branches, tight turns or a restricted drop point? Add useful access information when ordering so we can plan the right approach.

3

We prepare & weigh it

Our Red Gum is loaded with a sieve bucket to help minimise dirt and rocks, and every scoop is weighed so the bulk order is measured by weight rather than guessed by eye.

4

We deliver locally

Our own fleet brings the order to your property. Different-sized trucks give us options for different order sizes and property access, subject to safe vehicle access.

What you're buying

Our premium Red Gum firewood option.

Red Gum remains the premium traditional firewood choice for many of our customers. We source the best Red Gum available to us, prepare it for practical home use and check the condition of the current supply rather than pretending every load is identical all winter.

âś“
Pre-split and ready for practical use

The product is supplied split rather than as unsplit rounds or logs.

âś“
Loaded with a sieve bucket

This helps reduce loose dirt and rocks being carried into the load.

âś“
Moisture tested

Firewood condition changes through a season and between supplies. If exact current moisture is important to you, contact us before ordering and we can discuss the stock on hand.

âś“
Measured by weight

Every scoop is weighed. Our current Red Gum product information states our weighing process is accurate within 10kg.

Why we sell bulk firewood by weight

A tonne and a cubic metre measure different things.

Bulk firewood can be sold by weight, volume or lot. We sell our bulk Red Gum by weight because it gives the order a defined measured mass. Timber density, moisture content and the amount of air space between pieces all affect how much volume a particular weight occupies.

Don't rely on a fixed “1 tonne = X cubic metres” promise. National Measurement Institute guidance says not to assume a universal conversion between firewood weight and volume because wood density, moisture and free space can make the calculation unreliable. If you want the full explanation, read our tonne vs cubic metre firewood Guide.

Property access matters

Tell us about the driveway before the truck arrives.

Hills properties are rarely identical. A delivery that is straightforward on one property can be difficult on the next, so useful access information helps us plan the job before the truck leaves the yard.

Worth telling us about

Please flag anything that could affect safe access or the available drop location.

  • Steep or narrow driveways
  • Low branches, trees or overhead obstructions
  • Tight gates or limited turning room
  • Soft ground or areas unsuitable for a loaded truck
  • A preferred drop point that may be difficult to reach

We have different-sized delivery trucks.

Our fleet gives us options for smaller-access jobs through to larger bulk deliveries. Vehicle choice still depends on the order, property access and what can be reached safely.

Choosing the right firewood

Red Gum is premium — but it isn't the only good choice.

If you are comparing Red Gum with Blue Gum, a 50/50 mix or simply trying to work out what matters most in a wood heater, we have separated those questions into dedicated Guides.

Good firewood still needs good burning practice

Dry, seasoned hardwood gives you a better starting point.

EPA Victoria recommends dry, seasoned and untreated hardwood for wood heaters because it produces more useful heat and less smoke than unsuitable or wet timber. We moisture test the firewood we supply, but timber is a natural product and current condition can vary through the season.

If current moisture is important to your purchase, ask us. We would rather tell you about the supply we have now than have an evergreen article pretend every load has exactly the same moisture reading.

Frequently asked questions

Red Gum firewood delivery: the practical answers.

Do you weigh Red Gum firewood?

Yes. Our bulk Red Gum is sold by weight and every scoop is weighed. Our current Red Gum product information states our weighing process is accurate within 10kg.

How dry is the Red Gum?

We moisture test our firewood, but the exact condition of natural timber varies through the season and between supplies. If you want to know about the current stock before ordering, contact the General Store and ask.

How many cubic metres are in one tonne of Red Gum?

There is no universal conversion we recommend using as a promise. Weight and volume measure different things, and density, moisture and stacking affect the result. Read our tonne vs cubic metre Guide for the detailed explanation.

Do you deliver Red Gum to my suburb?

We deliver throughout our regular Dandenong Ranges, Hills, Casey foothills and nearby Cardinia service area. If your location is not listed above, contact us and we can confirm whether the address is within our current delivery network.

What if my driveway is narrow or steep?

Tell us before delivery. We have different-sized trucks, but safe access depends on the property, the order and the available drop point. Our Delivery Fleet page gives you a better idea of the vehicles we operate.

Can I buy less than a tonne?

Yes. Our current Red Gum product has 1 tonne, 1/2 tonne and 20kg bag options. Check the Red Gum product page for the current choices and delivery or pickup options available to your order.
