Tractor Trails: Kurth Kiln Forest & History
Tractor Trails / Free self-guided adventure / Gembrook
Historic forest, a wartime charcoal kiln and a proper country picnic. Kurth Kiln Regional Park is a great way to spend a few hours exploring close to Gembrook. Make OTR Gembrook your coffee or lunch stop and enjoy the park at your own pace.
Choose your forest walk
Tomahawk Creek Circuit — approximately 2 km, 30-minute circuit, starting at Kurth Kiln Picnic Ground. This is described by Parks Victoria as a gentle walk following Tomahawk Creek.
Thornton Walking Track — approximately 2 km, 30 minutes return from the picnic ground, with a longer loop option via Scout Loop Track and Soldiers Road.
Shiprock Falls — a separate short stop, approximately 300 m / 10 minutes return from Shiprock Falls Picnic Area.
The highlights
Discover the surviving charcoal kiln built during the Second World War, forest history and a picnic ground with information boards. Bring your own picnic and take time to enjoy the bushland. Our proposed OTR picnic packs will be available to preview while we finalise the range.
