How deep should mulch be?

Keep trunks clear

What is the best mulch for a garden bed?
There is no single best mulch for every bed. Choose based on the plants, the finish you want, the particle size and the amount you need. Pine bark is popular for a clean landscaped look, bush leaf for a more natural finish, and coloured mulches where visual contrast is important.
What is the difference between 6–10mm and 12–20mm pine bark?
The 6–10mm option has a finer appearance and suits areas where a neat, polished finish is the priority. The 12–20mm option is chunkier and works well across larger beds and open areas. Both are available in our live mulch range.
How much mulch do I need?
Measure the bed in metres, multiply length by width to get square metres, then multiply by the planned depth in metres. The calculator above does this automatically and gives the result in cubic metres.
